I'm driving down on 4th street
and the rain is falling down.
They're locking up at Legends
and they're closing up the town.
I see teardrops on my windshield,
seems they run and disappear.
The night is split by thunder
and I wonder if she's here.
Nashville, you're raining on me
waterfalls of pain.
I was young and foolish,
she was blinded by the fame.
I search for her down lonely streets
in every face I see,
and I wonder in this falling rain,
does she search for me?
She came east from Seattle
in the summer of '05,
and the time we spent together
was the time I felt alive.
She played her songs on Broadway
on a guitar red as blood;
but we both drowned in desire
and I lost her in the flood.
Nashville, you're raining on me
waterfalls of pain.
I was young and foolish,
she was blinded by the fame.
I search for her down lonely streets
in every face I see,
and I wonder in this falling rain,
does she search for me?
(Bridge)
And if I ever find her...
even though it's been so long,
I'd tell her I was sorry
I'd tell her I was wrong.
